Beginning Band Virtual Tour Intermediate and Advanced Band, Intermediate Jazz Band Virtual Tour

After graduating from Willamette University in Salem, Oregon with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education, I taught band and elementary music in the public schools in Oregon for four years. I played French horn professionally with the Portland Opera Orchestra for seven years. After moving to Washington in 1991, I started the Homeschool Band in this area in 1993, so I could work part time and be home with my kids. I love to teach and inspire kids in music. Many of my former students are continuing in music by leading worship at their church, playing in community bands, pursuing music degrees, composing for films, leading homeschool music groups, playing professionally, teaching, and performing in musical theater. I have performed on French horn in the Starry Night Orchestra, Skagit Chorale, Sno-King Chorale, Northwest Chorale, Philharmonia Northwest, Harmonia, and have played trumpet in Seattle Women’s Jazz Orchestra. I have been the French horn coach for the Cascade Youth Symphony, Fidalgo Youth Symphony, and also brass and percussion coach at the Mount Baker Youth Symphony Summer Sounds Camp. I am married to Dave who is a retired band director for the Everett public schools. We have two daughters, Amanda and Audrey, who also love music and have participated in Homeschool Connections.
