Description:

High School English provides high school students with a solid foundation in Structure and Style writing. Throughout this course students will refine their writing skills as they use IEW stylistic techniques and structural models to compose reports, creative writing, formal essays (including super essays or term papers), critiques, and literary analysis. Additionally, students will read six novels and come to class prepared to engage in a Socratic discussion. Students may expect three to four hours a week of homework. This class is equal to 1.0 English credit.

Prerequisites:

Students must read at the ninth grade reading level or higher. Ideally, students will have successfully completed Writing IV (IEW): Structure and Style 2B although this is not required.

Cost:

$360 tuition per year, paid in six $60 payments. $25 supply fee per year, paid in one $25 payment.

Textbook:

Structures and Styles 1C student packet and binder (SSS-1C-S) as well as the novels prior to the beginning of class. Novel selection to be determined. The IEW student packet and binder may be purchased on www.iew.com.
