Jesus is my passion and He put a passion for teaching in my heart from the start. I started teaching piano and also Sunday school in high school and became a children’s pastor in college. God pulled all the pieces of my education to equip me to homeschool. I obtained my Bachelors in Biochemistry and Masters in Teaching from the University of Washington. I then taught middle school math and science in the Seattle Public School District. My desire to be a missionary brought me to Taiwan where I taught middle and high school science at Morrison Academy.

I married and had my son – two of the best things that ever happened to me. Our family moved back to Seattle. I built up my piano studio and was president of the Greater Seattle Federated Music Club and also Vice President of the Washington Federated Music Club. I stepped back from teaching music to focus on homeschooling my son.

That is when I discovered the homeschool community, of which I am forever grateful. My son attended Seattle Christian Homeschool Co-op for 10 years. I taught a range from Chemistry and Forensic Science to Research Report writing and Worship Band. Throughout this time I also taught math and finished this last year teaching Calculus 2.

One of my favorite things to hear from my students’ parents is, “My son/daughter never used to like math and now they do!” That is my hope, that every student that passes through my classes learns what it feels like to be successful at math and even sees the beauty in it – and all of this through God’s help. I recently sent my son off to the army, I am so proud of him, and now find myself with more time to devote to ministry and also to teaching. I am excited to join Homeschool Connections and hope to be used by God to bless the community here.
