I have found that teaching and spending time with students is a passion and a privilege. I started my career as a pediatric nurse at Children’s Hospital in Seattle as a floor nurse. After some years home raising children, I went back to school and got a Master in teaching and an elementary education endorsement. I worked the next ten years as an elementary classroom teacher and also got my professional certification and an endorsement for a reading certification. I began to work with children with reading disabilities, but also worked with students who were above grade level and those whose first language was not English. It was a rich, rewarding experience. I am excited to continue teaching in a new environment, using a multisensory, creative style that engages and interests students. I believe that my job is to help them be successful in learning about the subjects Bible, geography, and reading. I also hope to encourage them to always be a learner who is curious, creative, and an analytical thinker.

I am an avid reader and cook who loves to travel and snorkel. My days are anchored by church and women’s Bible study. I have a Portuguese water dog named Hamish who is in his teen years right now and keeps me active! I will be happy to trade crazy stories about pets and teenagers! I am a widow with three grown children who are married and have children of their own now. Life is good.
