Marna Marteeny

Pre-Algebra Virtual Tour

Marna has shared her love of math with Connections students for the past 13 years. She graduated with a BS in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Washington. She went on to conduct risk analysis at the National Reactor Test Station and nuclear power plants in the US and abroad. After a prolific career in Nuclear Engineering, her most important career move was homeschooling her two children Benjamin and Naomi through 12th grade. Both went on to be Huskies!

Math class is intentionally designed to be an open space for learning where ideas and participation are welcomed. No child is left out and everyone is empowered to step into their best self. Because every child’s perspective is valued and heard it creates a sense of camaraderie and connection to the whole group.

Marna’s teaching methods help reluctant math students become avid fans. Math enthusiasts will also have opportunities to unlock a deeper love of math in Marna’s classes. In addition to teaching and tutoring Math, Astronomy, and Python Programming, Marna enjoys raising service dogs, biking, horseback riding, and camping with her husband of 33 years, Alexander.
